The Cootamundra Beach Volleyball weekend was well supported in its return last weekend after a two year hiatus due to Covid.

Coota Beach was back bigger and better than ever with all the funny costumes of previous years, music playing throughout the day and plenty of water keeping the players hydrated on what was a scorching hot day.

Everyone in attendance had one thing in common, all were wearing a big smile on their faces through the highs of winning a point and the lows of slipping over and getting sand in their hair, all competitors and spectators alike enjoyed themselves.

There was enough sand behind the main street for those to confuse Cootamundra for Bondi and the water spraying throughout the event was a welcome addition to the day.

The event also featured a school’s tournament on Friday for the first time which was well supported by school’s across the region and is expected to be a growing part of the event for years to come with more and more school’s hoping to participate in the event next year.

Organiser of Coota Beach Volleyball Simon Sutherland was happy with how the weekend went and was thankful for all the help the group received from volunteers.

“It was a massive success, we learned a lot, we were probably a little rusty after having two years off and having an almost entirely new committee but under the circumstances we feel like we put on a good show and we’ve already had a debrief to talk idea’s for next year,” Sutherland said.
