There was no stopping the Cootamundra Tri-Colours in West Wyalong on Saturday. Playing in Round Two of the Central West Rugby South West Cup competition, both Cootamundra’s men’s and women’s sides were good wins.

The Tri-Colours women enjoyed a good, hard, tough 45- 10 victory over the Weevils.

The women demonstrated great fitness and ball skills as they ran away winners in the end. Player’s player and three points went to Louise Raleigh, while the remaining points went to Taylor Palmer (2) and Jordan Douglas (1) and Georgia Murray (1).

In the men’s game, it was another tough game, with a determined West Wyalong side turning up to play in front of a good home crowd.

Cootamundra, with a few injuries and prior commitments, were a touch short on numbers.

The boys certainly dug deep and held on in the end for a pretty courageous victory considering a Tri-Colours player was sent off midway through first half.

Big Rob left the field late in the game with a bad shoulder injury and was taken to Wyalong hospital, with the club passing on their best wishes to the big fella and a huge thank you to both our first-aiders and West Wyalong’s first aiders for the job they done assisting Rob.

Cootamundra came away with a 15-5 win with player’s player going to Gus Forster, while the points went to Sam Eberle (3), Gus Forster (2), and Matt Berkrey (1).

Next week is Ladies Day as Cootamundra taking on the visiting Blayney Rams at home.

The club hopes to see a massive crowd cheer on their boys as there is only one game as Blayney does not have a women’s side.

In other Round Two South West Cup men’s matches, reigning premiers Young made the trip to Blayney, going down to the Rams 23-22.
